The purpose of the SCA is to assess a GP Registrar's ability to integrate and apply skills appropriate for general practice. It is a standardised clinical OSCE delivered in the GP Registrars' practice under invigilated conditions. The Cases Manager is responsible for managing and developing the SCA examination case bank, including preparation and selection of case palettes for the examinations, quality assurance of all case materials and ensuring the case bank is kept up to date, organised and secure.
The Cases Manager will work closely with the Case Management Lead and Case Management Group to ensure case materials are written in accordance with the blueprint and organise and deliver piloting of these cases. They will also work closely with the role-player agency in recruiting of high-quality role players for SCA examination days and lead on review process of role player performances following each exam diet. They will also be responsible for leading on role-player standardisation sessions, assist with the SCA Case management budget and support the work of the Senior Examinations Manager (SCA).
The successful candidate should have experience in working with question banks (both management and development of these), ideally within a medical context. They should have exceptional communication skills, be highly organised and have outstanding attention to detail. The ideal candidate should have a sound knowledge of quality assurance processes and be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. The ideal candidate should be a confident decision maker, will have experience in delivering pilots and management of a team.
