Job Opportunity: Executive Assistant (12-Month Maternity Cover, 30 Hours/Week) to Anna Dixon, MP for Shipley
Anna Dixon, MP for Shipley, is seeking a highly organised and proactive Executive Assistant to join her team on a 12-month maternity cover contract, working 30 hours per week from her Shipley constituency office or from her office in Westminster; salary commensurate with location. This pivotal role supports both parliamentary and constituency operations and includes:
Managing the MP's diary and overseeing constituency commitments
Handling calls, emails, social media, and in-person enquiries with professionalism and efficiency
Providing executive support to the MP and liaising with interest groups
Assisting with event planning, logistics, and on-the-day coordination
Maintaining databases and managing administrative cases using Microsoft Office
Building strong relationships with constituents, stakeholders, and Westminster contacts
Administering IPSA expenses and reconciling the MP's IPSA card
Ensuring data protection compliance and effective file management
Overseeing the Parliamentary Researcher and compiling briefing materials
Taking minutes and supporting meetings as required
This is a part-time, fixed-term position for 30 hours per week over 12 months. Flexibility is essential, as occasional travel and out-of-hours work may be required.

Person Specification
Essential:
Experience as a Personal / Executive Assistant for a senior leader
Experience of drafting and sending out written correspondence
Experience of helping people in a confident, friendly, professional manner
Experience of organising successful events
Experience of working with confidential and sensitive information
Experience of managing others
Excellent ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload
Strong ability to take minutes and effectively summarise key points
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Excellent diary management and prioritisation skills
Strong relationship building skills
Strong communication skills
Strong written and IT Skills (Microsoft Office)
A working knowledge of relevant legislation and parliamentary business and understand how these policies may impact on local constituents
Desirable:
Experience of working in Parliament
Experience of working in a politically sensitive environment
Experience of managing expenses
Experience of working as part of a geographically dispersed team
Good knowledge of the Shipley constituency and local stakeholders
Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party
