Job Description

Rutland Nursery is an established family-run business, with a garden nursery, shop and restaurant situated in a fabulous location on the south shore of beautiful Rutland Water.


The Nursery has been in existence for over thirty years, growing and nurturing plants for the gardens of Rutland and beyond. Our purpose is to excite, inspire and equip our customers with natures possibilities.


Focusing on the efficient and smooth running of the Founding Directors work commitments, this role also supports the wider Rutland Nursery management team. Using excellent multi-tasking and planning skills, the ideal applicant will be an effective communicator who can balance competing demands for the Founding Directors time.


Discretion, confidentiality and respect for the ambitions of the company are vital. Overseeing many of the policies and procedures of the running of Rutland Nursery, this job will help coordinate meetings, processes and management work. Ultimately this highly important administrative role will support the exciting development of the leadership team and Rutland Nurserys future.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




Focusing on the efficient and smooth running of the Founding Directors work commitments, while providing support to the wider Rutland Nursery management team.


Commercial & Operational




Strong administrative support for the Founding Director Ensuring all management reports and KPIs are kept up-to-date and delivered on time Liaison and occasional support for all members of the Rutland Nursery management team Ensuring effectiveness of Founding Director through planning and organising their working week Support of management meetings, including note taking, action points and follow ups Screening phone calls, emails and general enquiries Manage the Founding Directors diary, including travel, meetings, appointments and hotel booking Special projects such as organising company events, Christmas gifts etc Undertaking research as required by Founding Director Assist in managing Rutland Nurserys policies and procedures

Customer & People




Work closely with other members of the Rutland Nursery team as well as wider Ellis Cook Group organisation Liaise with suppliers, customers or third parties as required Input into HR policies as needed Point of contact for all aspects of the Founding Directors work

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE




Essential


Excellent verbal and written communications Working knowledge of all Microsoft applications including Teams Efficient diary planning for multiple people Strong time management of self and others Experience of how family-run companies work Discretion and confidential business approach Understanding of management teams and their needs Respect for the Founding Directors varied work and needs Desirable
Previous experience of working in the gardening or horticultural sector Understanding of the application of HR policies and procedures
