Groundworker/Bricklayer Wanted - Bristol & South Wales

Needs to be knowledgeable in digging foundations and bricklaying, tying new brickwork into existing structures. Predominantly building extensions, moving drainage/manholes, and plumbing in new soil pipes to bathrooms.

Job Details

We are looking for dedicated Groundworkers/Bricklayers to operate in and around the Southwest area. The ideal candidate will have experience in site preparation, bricklaying, laying foundations, drainage systems, and other groundworks-related tasks. Attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

Digging foundations and tying new brickwork into existing structures. Installing concrete foundations, footings, and domestic drainage systems to support residential structures. Laying bricks, blocks, and stone to construct walls, retaining structures, and other masonry features. Moving drainage, relocating manhole covers, and plumbing in new soil pipes to bathrooms. Laying patios, driveways, garden paths, kerbs, and block paving for residential properties. Safely operating machinery such as mini diggers, dumpers, and rollers (if qualified) within residential environments. Backfilling and compacting excavated areas to ensure stable and secure groundwork for residential builds. Collaborating with tradespeople such as electricians and plumbers to ensure smooth project delivery. Adhering to Health & Safety regulations specific to residential sites, ensuring safety for both workers and occupants. Reading and interpreting residential building plans and technical drawings to align groundwork and bricklaying with project specifications. Maintaining and organising tools and machinery, keeping a tidy and safe work environment on residential properties.

Requirements & Skills

Full UK driving licence. Proven experience in general building and construction work, ideally with a focus on groundwork and bricklaying for home extensions or renovations. Ability to lay bricks and blocks to a high standard. Experience with setting out and working from plans. Current Health & Safety training certificates, including but not limited to: Asbestos Awareness Working at Height Manual Handling Risk Assessments Strong organisational and time-management skills. Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
