Rainbow Friends Childcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Deputy Nursery Manager
to oversee the administration and day-to-day operations of our vibrant and inclusive nursery. As the Nursery Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the welfare and development of all children, while providing effective leadership to our staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Administration and Compliance:
Manage overall administration, paperwork, and recording of the nursery, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
Utilize the 'First steps' childcare management database for efficient record-keeping and documentation.
Complete necessary administration tasks to ensure the smooth running of the setting.
Complete Educational Grant registration documentation.
Implement fee procedures and ensure timely and advance payments are made.
Regularly update and monitor each child's developmental records.
People Management:
Provide line management, supervision, and leadership to all staff and volunteers, including setting objectives and conducting appraisals.
Participate in or deliver relevant training to support staff development.
Lead in managing and promoting positive behavior among children.
Participate in the recruitment, induction, and training of childcare staff in accordance with established recruitment policies, induction programs, and national standards.
General:
Assess and manage risks within the setting through comprehensive and considered risk assessments.
Serve as one of the primary points of contact for safeguarding within the childcare setting.
Implement policies and procedures to ensure effective management, best practices, health and safety, and safeguarding.
Undertake personal development training to enhance professional expertise and contribute to the effective operation of the childcare setting.
Ensure proper implementation of financial procedures.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Children's Act and promptly report any concerns regarding the welfare of a child to the safe-guarding lead.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in handling unpredictable and varied tasks and responsibilities inherent in working with young people.
Additional Duties
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Nursery Manager and teaching staff to develop and implement a diverse and engaging curriculum that promotes the holistic development of children. Ensure the curriculum aligns with relevant educational standards and guidelines.
Parent Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians by organizing regular meetings, workshops, and events. Act as a point of contact for parental inquiries, feedback, and concerns, ensuring effective communication and partnership between the nursery and families.
Quality Assurance: Work closely with the Nursery Manager to monitor and evaluate the quality of care and education provided. Conduct regular audits, inspections, and self-assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Staff Development: Identify training needs and opportunities for professional growth among the staff. Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and mentoring programs to enhance their skills, knowledge, and expertise in early childhood education.
Budgeting and Resource Management: Assist in the development and management of the nursery's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Maintain inventory and order necessary equipment, materials, and supplies to support the smooth operation of the nursery.
Community Outreach: Represent Rainbow Friends Childcare in the local community and establish partnerships with relevant organizations, schools, and professionals. Promote the nursery's services and engage in outreach activities to attract potential families and support community involvement.
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Collaborate with the SEN Coordinator and relevant professionals to ensure inclusive practices and support for children with special educational needs. Provide guidance and training to staff on SEN strategies and accommodations.
Health and Safety: Maintain a safe and hygienic environment within the nursery, adhering to health and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and emergency drills to ensure the well-being and security of children, staff, and visitors.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with current trends, research, and best practices in early childhood education. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the nursery's programs, policies, and procedures, incorporating innovative approaches to enrich children's learning experiences.
Crisis Management: Act as a point of contact and provide leadership during crisis situations, such as accidents, illnesses, or emergencies. Follow established protocols and collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant experience in nursery management or a similar administrative role.
Demonstrated understanding of childcare legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
Strong organizational and administrative skills, including experience with childcare management databases.
Excellent people management and leadership abilities, with a proven track record of supervising and motivating staff.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively.
Qualifications in early childhood education, childcare, or a related field are highly desirable.
Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification
