Location: Shirley, Solihull, West Midlands (near M42 Junction 4)

Salary: Competitive - Above National Minimum Wage

Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours/week (Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm)

Contract Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Fabricator Welder to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a minimum of 5 years' experience in fabrication and welding, ideally within structural steelwork or automotive sectors.

You'll be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials, and welding steel assemblies using MIG/MAG processes. Experience with gas cutting and multi-positional welding is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.

Measure, mark out, and prepare materials using appropriate tools.

Fit, tack, and weld steel components (plates, tubes, box sections) in various positions.

Operate fabrication machinery including band saws, drill presses, grinders, and cutters.

Maintain welding equipment and ensure a clean, safe working environment.

Adhere to EN1090 and ISO9001 quality standards and safety procedures.

Work independently and contribute to team-based projects.

Skills & Experience Essential

Minimum 5 years' experience in fabrication and welding.

Proficiency in MIG welding (3mm - 30mm mild steel).

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.

Experience with fabrication machinery and hand tools.

Understanding of health & safety practices and quality control.

Excellent timekeeping, reliability, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Qualifications in Mechanical Production/Manufacturing.

Previous welding coding/qualifications.

Site installation and fitting experience.
