Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and qualified Japanese Interpreter to facilitate seamless and accurate communication between Japanese-speaking executives/staff and English-speaking counterparts. The ideal candidate will possess native-level fluency in both languages, exceptional cultural awareness, and a proven track record of professional interpreting in a corporate or specialized environment.

Key Responsibilities

Bilateral Interpretation:

Provide professional simultaneous

and whispered interpretation for internal meetings, client discussions, technical presentations, and training sessions.

Contextual Accuracy:

Accurately convey nuanced, complex, and sometimes highly technical information (e.g., in IT, manufacturing, legal, or finance) while maintaining the original tone and intent.

Document Translation (as needed):

Translate various business documents, emails, reports, and presentations between Japanese and English, ensuring linguistic and cultural precision.

Cultural Liaison:

Act as a cultural bridge, assisting staff from both sides in understanding cross-cultural communication styles and business etiquette.

Terminology Management:

Develop and maintain a consistent glossary of industry-specific and company-specific terminology for use in both interpreting and translation.

Confidentiality:

Strictly adhere to confidentiality agreements regarding all sensitive business, financial, and personnel information.

Travel:

Be prepared for domestic and international travel to support meetings and business operations, as required.
Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Native-level fluency in Japanese and English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing). Demonstrated high-level proficiency in interpretation modalities (simultaneous, consecutive, and whispered). Experience or qualification in a relevant field (e.g., technical, legal, or medical interpreting) is a strong plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional and discreet demeanor.
