Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manual Turner to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in precision machining and mechanical processes. This role involves operating manual lathes to produce high-quality components according to technical specifications. The successful applicant will have a solid understanding of materials handling, tooling, and assembly techniques, contributing to the efficient production of complex parts. This is a paid position suitable for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual lathes with precision to produce components as per technical drawings and specifications Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and use SolidWorks for reference during machining processes Fabricate parts using hand tools, milling machines, and welding techniques when necessary Programme logic controllers (PLCs) for automation tasks where applicable Handle materials efficiently, ensuring correct storage and movement within the workshop or warehouse environment Maintain tooling and equipment, performing routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments to ensure accuracy Assist in assembly processes as required, ensuring components fit correctly and meet quality standards Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper materials handling and use of personal protective equipment

Experience

Proven experience as a Manual Turner or in a similar precision machining role Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks and general engineering drawing interpretation Competence in using hand tools and other workshop equipment Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of materials properties and tooling requirements Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and setting up machinery accurately This position offers an engaging opportunity for skilled manual turners to utilise their expertise within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
