The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Duties
Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects.
Attend client pre/mid/post tender meetings
Conduct cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle to ensure financial efficiency.
Analyse tender documents to ensure a robust and competitive submission
Monitor and report on project expenditure, identifying any potential risks or issues.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate pricing and procurement of materials.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to the project.
Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes as necessary.
Assist in the preparation of tender documents and evaluate bids from contractors.
Qualifications
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential.
A Solid grasp of earthworks, drainage, foundations, and infrastructure packages
Minimum 5 years experience in Estimating
Proven experience in quantity surveying or a similar role within the construction industry.
Familiarity with measurement standards SMM7, CESSM, MOM, NRM
Knowledge on contract forms JCT, NEC3/4
Strong understanding of cost control methodologies and practices.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., CostX, Excel).
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Membership or working towards membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS) is advantageous.
