What you'll be doing:




Communicate the rationale behind the compliance framework, licence conditions, and ML classifications to the business to ensure the necessary level of understanding and awareness of export controls is achieved and maintained Develop and uphold processes to guarantee the business meets all legal and regulatory requirements related to the import and export of military and dual-use goods Serve as the subject matter expert and main point of contact for daily export control guidance and as an escalation point for export-related issues. Identify, create, and deliver training as needed Engage proactively with stakeholders to anticipate potential risks and implement timely measures to prevent programme delay Carry out additional activities such as assurance audits, investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of effective corrective actions. Identify and manage risks and opportunities, and drive improvement initiatives

Your skills and experiences:




A degree or equivalent qualification, with experience in export controls, preferably within the defence sector. Compliance experience in related areas such as legal, procurement, or commercial will also be considered Knowledge of ITAR, UK export licences, FMS, and other relevant national export regulations is required. Experience conducting audits and investigations, including Root Cause Analysis, is beneficial Strategic and creative thinking is essential to address complex licensing challenges within this export control role Effective communication and interpersonal skills are needed to build relationships with demanding external stakeholders and to collaborate with the wider export team Comfortable working with people at all levels and able to communicate appropriately at each level

The Export Control team:





This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a specialist support function, on an exciting submarine programme, managing licences, understanding business strategy, embedding compliance and working with the customer and our industrial partners. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
