Purpose Of the Role:
Coordination and administrative management of international road freight shipments for both imports and exports, ensuring legal compliance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning, booking, and tracking shipments start to end.
Organising collection via internal / external partners
Creating and processing shipments with complete accuracy, issue freight documentation (Consignent notes, CMR, BL, EUR1, etc.)
Coordinating with hauliers, warehouses, and customs agents.
Monitoring shipment progress and proactively resolving delays.
Acting as key contact for customers regarding shipment status and issues.
Entering and verifying data in freight systems.
Supporting invoicing and cost control by reviewing transport charges and services.
Ensuring compliance with Incoterms, EU regulations, and company policies.
Managing proof of delivery (POD) documentation and archiving.
Liaising with internal / external partners to manage urgent shipments and special deliveries.
Creating GMR (Goods Movement Reference) from customs system.
Arranging ferry or tunnel crossings for trailers travelling between UK and the EU.
Conducting dangerous goods compatibility checks.
Preparing necessary documents for international drivers (e.g., CMR, customs paperwork).
Assisting with holiday cover across the team.
The Ideal candidate will have:
Proficiency in freight forwarding software
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Minimum 2 years of experience in international road freight operations
Familiarity with customs documentation and compliance regulations
Ability to coordinate and manage logistics schedules efficiently
Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, carriers, and customs officials
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Experience in tracking shipments and managing freight costs
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Team player with good organizational and multitasking abilities
