About the Role



We are seeking an experienced Export Forwarding and Logistics Clerk to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled freight forwarding professional to take ownership of coordinating domestic and international shipments, managing customs compliance, and ensuring seamless export operations.

Key Responsibilities



Freight Operations & Documentation



Process export, domestic and international shipments Prepare and file all necessary customs documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and export declarations Accurate data entry of customs entries electronically Maintain HMRC compliant records and documentation for all export activities

Customs Compliance & Brokerage



Ensure timely customs clearance of shipments through ports of exit Support customs processes overseas as needed Develop and maintain technical knowledge of customs regulations and compliance requirements Stay updated with current HMRC and freight regulations

Coordination & Communication



Schedule and oversee packing and transportation of goods from collection to final destination Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely collections and deliveries Organise deliveries through overseas local agents Provide frequent shipment updates to customers with quick response times Communicate proactively with suppliers, customs officials, and internal stakeholders

Operational Management



Oversee and manage the packing process, coordinating with other departments Manage receipt, inspection, and storage of inventory for packing Monitor file profits and report anomalies to management Report issues including claims, failed collections or deliveries to customer services Support continuous improvement of export processes and procedures

Essential Requirements



Minimum 5 years' experience in freight forwarding

across air, sea and road freight Strong knowledge of export customs procedures and documentation Experience with shipping software systems Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy Strong communication and coordination skills Understanding of HMRC compliance requirements Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously

Desirable Qualifications



BIFA (British International Freight Association) qualification

Dangerous Goods training/certification

Experience with Boxtop shipping software Knowledge of ASM customs portal
