WHAT TO EXPECT

In this role you will lead a team of Exterior Ornamentation engineers across multiple disciplines (including component, system, and legal identification) to specify, engineer, and ensure robust application of commodities into a Programme, meeting all defined targets and attributes.

You will develop the off cycle commodity strategies that align to our Vision for world class quality and modern luxury, fostering teamwork to bring a unique approach to understand the science behind our engineering requirements and validation process. Working with a wide range of materials and construction techniques, challenging functional and cost targets and significant liaison with all internal areas of our business as well as external component and system suppliers.

Focused on teamwork and engagement you will naturally and easily demonstrate the behaviours and culture outlined by the Creator\'s Code and lead the team using the Agile methodologies. You will represent the requirements of Body Exterior team and our interaction with other specialist groups within the organisation.

You will have the ability to combine a short-term, pragmatic focus with longer-term planning and will be resilient, energetic, and enthusiastic, able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Actively raising quality and consistency in product delivery across the range of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles including Body of Knowledge generation and maintenance and methods on automation in virtual tools.
  • Creating and delivery of capability and technology roadmaps to define capability and technology for current and future needs of the business in support of Product / Vehicle roadmaps.
  • Facilitation of community building within the Exteriors Chapter and knowledge of that chapter
  • Skill Development to assess and build skills of the members within the Chapter including mentoring and technical guidance of Chapter members. Ensuring people with the right skills are working in the right squads at the right time.
  • Supporting the upskilling of the total Exteriors team within the ornamentation department CAD / AVA tools aligned to the department skill matrix inclusive of Apprentice & Graduate Initial training
  • Drive achievement of targets and Verification Methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and drive for automation of checking utilising computer virtual tools.
  • Develop the Commodity Strategy for an Exteriors Chapter inclusive of Component CAD & CAE Validation
  • Management of resource planning and futuring for on cycle and off cycle expansion.
WHAT YOU NEED
  • Experience of PCDS and all engineering planning and delivery processes is essential i.e. Virtual Series
  • An excellent understanding of the Foundation Design FMEA process, Design Verification (RMDV) and AIMS, JIRA processes are required in conjunction with experience of Forward Model Quality strategies.
  • Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
  • Candidates must be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure.
  • Experience in working cross functionally with other areas
  • Understands and operates supplier relationship management.
