About the Role:

We are seeking a professional and experienced

External Transport Manager

to oversee and manage our transport operations in line with legal and regulatory requirements. This role will focus on ensuring full compliance across our fleet, drivers, and transport activities, while supporting the company in maintaining the highest operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the company's nominated Transport Manager in accordance with the Operator's Licence. Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport legislation, including driver hours, tachograph regulations, vehicle maintenance, and road safety. Develop, implement, and maintain transport policies and procedures. Monitor driver performance and ensure all training and licence checks are up to date. Carry out regular audits, inspections, and reporting to ensure best practice and continuous improvement. Liaise with regulatory bodies (DVSA, Traffic Commissioner) as required. Provide guidance and advice to management on compliance and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate records and ensure they are available for inspection at all times.

Requirements:

CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Road Haulage - essential. Proven experience as a Transport Manager or External Transport Manager. Strong knowledge of transport compliance and legislation. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
