Job Summary: Kiwa Fire Safety Compliance has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Fire Safety Engineer to join our Fire Risk Management team. This is a fantastic role for an experienced engineer who specialises in facades and external wall systems and is looking to take the next step in their career. About the role:
Lead and manage external wall risk appraisals and other external wall related work, ensuring delivery to agreed timeframes, quality and budgets.
Review architectural drawings and specifications for external walls to verify fire safety compliance, carrying out desk reviews and site inspections on existing and new buildings.
Assess external wall construction using PAS 9980 risk?based methodology and prepare concise, high?quality technical reports for a range of stakeholders.
Provide high?level technical support to clients and colleagues.
Manage projects proactively maintaining utilisation, contributing to invoicing goals, and identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and efficiency.
Build strong relationships with clients, external authorities and internal teams; handle enquiries professionally and travel to sites as required.
Support team growth by assisting with sales enquiries.
Progression within this role may include line management responsibilities of Fire Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
Do you have what it takes?:
Expertise in facades, external wall systems, and their interfaces.
Degree in fire engineering or related discipline and/or significant experience in external wall appraisals and remediation.
Membership in a recognised professional organisation, with progress towards CEng or IEng status.
Strong understanding of construction techniques, fire performance of external wall materials, cavity barriers, fire stops, and fire breaks.
Familiarity with passive fire protection products, fire testing procedures, and relevant regulations/standards.
Experience conducting intrusive surveys of external walls on new and existing buildings.
Ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications accurately.
Skilled in preparing clear technical reports for non-technical audiences.
In-depth knowledge of fire safety design legislation and guidance for various building types.
Understanding of fire risk assessment processes.
Ability to work safely at heights using scaffolding, elevated platforms, and similar access methods.
Excellent planning, organisational, and project management skills.
Effective interpersonal skills, particularly in communicating technical matters.
