Job Introduction
Join our team as an External Works Inspector and take the lead in maintaining the safety, integrity, and appearance of our site's external buildings and grounds. You'll be responsible for routine inspections, risk management, and implementing corrective actions across 63 buildings. From winter gritting and paving repairs to health and safety checks, stakeholder engagement, and reporting, this role offers a dynamic opportunity to ensure our external environment is safe, functional, and well-maintained. If you're proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoy working closely with trades and senior leadership, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do:
Check that no rubbish, cardboard, or waste can be a source of fire ignition or pose slip, trip, and fall risks.
Check render within the Peter Mount / courtyards and report any issues.
Check the joiner workshop and report any issues.
Check for cracks in building structures and surfaces, and place jobs on Maximo.
Check all external walkways and grass areas, and place jobs on Maximo.
Check all external building conditions.
Check roof areas and report any issues.
Carry out internal and external inspections / PPE.
Review fire risks as part of PPMs.
Assist Junior Estates with the Dr process.
Complete POS for external works.
What You Bring:
Experience working within a Plantroom environment
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
Works well in a pressurized environment
Ability to deal with people at all levels
Ability to be an effective Team player
Aware of relevant Health & Safety and general legislative matters
Attend external and internal courses as required
Must be computer literate
Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
Good level of mathematical skills
Technical fire safety awareness
A understanding of fire Regs
Demonstrating maturity in working with Hard FM groups
Any specialist knowledge relevant to the health care environment
Previous experience using PDAs
The completing of external reports to a clear and understandable level
