We are looking for someone with the creative vision, drive and commitment to lead our FAB team and take the service to the next level.
FAB is centred around the 'Five Ways to Wellbeing'because being happy, keeping active and feeling fulfilled have a profound beneficial impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.
FAB has a membership of around 2000 adults aged 50+ years and is growing fast. The services run include regular newsletters, guides on services available in the city and a social media group. We hold social get-togethers in community settings and telephone groups for those who can't leave home. We organise discos, and run weekly tai chi sessions delivered by our trained volunteer instructors.
The overarching aim is to develop enjoyable activities based on people's interests that encourage them to remain connected to others. Our services are often supported by volunteers, who are also over 50 years of age. This aspect of FAB is very important because helping others is also beneficial to our own wellbeing.
We've achieved a lot with our current talented staff team and our incredible volunteers. We now want to appoint a manager to support the team and to expand the service in a way that is financially sustainable, exploring new directions and consolidating what has already been achieved. The possibilities are endless, and we are looking for a proactive individual to create an even wider reaching FAB network.
As Manager, you will ensure that everything we do is informed by the needs identified of older adults, doing so by regularly educating yourself on new best practice evidence, and learning from within Bristol as well as other national programmes of similar structure.
In addition to the creative vision, you will need to have excellent organisational skills and be familiar with monitoring and evaluation techniques so you can demonstrate the social benefits of the services delivered.
A flexible approach is key as is the ability to spot opportunities and turn them into reality. Great teamwork, communication and partnership skills are vital. The role will require confident engagement with a wide range of organisations in the city, building positive relationships and strong partnerships that benefit older adults and the FAB community. It will also require someone who can mirror our desired 'team of teams' approach within and outside of Age UK Bristol.
