Active Ageing Assistant Manager



Hybrid - Between Hertford Office and Home, with regular travel across Hertfordshire



Part time 24.5 hours per week



Salary: 20,090 per annum (28,700 FTE)



Maternity cover up to 12 months

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Manager to assist with the management and delivery of our countywide Active Ageing service.

Previous experience of delivering a service to the community with extensive knowledge of social care services is essential as are excellent leadership and communication skills.

You will need a full driving licence and access to a car.

You will be responsible for the following services:



Tea & Chat, Brainwaves, Jaswant Club Management



To directly manage the localised clubs. Providing support with the day to day running of the clubs and acting quickly to resolve any challenges when they arise

Participate in the initial assessments and reassessments of clients attending the localised clubs when supervisors need additional support

Support the development of the club supervisors that manage the localised clubs with regular 1-1 and performance review meetings

Hold regular team meetings with the club supervisors of the localised clubs to ensure consistency of service delivery

Manage the budgets for the localised clubs

Collate reports required by funders for the localised services

Use HR database to record, monitor or approve annual leave, training and sickness of the staff delivering the localised services

Active Ageing Service Assistant Management



To assistthe Active Ageing Manager with the day to day running of the Countywide lunch clubs (Young At Heart clubs)

To support the Active Ageing Manager to establish and maintain good working relationships with meal providers, transport providers and venue providers

Assist and support the Active Ageing Manager to ensure that a sufficient number of casual staff and volunteers are recruited to support the delivery of the Active Ageing services

Assist and support the Active Ageing Manager to manage waiting lists for the services

Assist and support the Active Ageing Manager to monitor the active ageing staff and volunteers training records and all required training is completed

Liaise with other voluntary and statutory organisations to raise awareness of the Active Ageing service and to maximise appropriate referrals to the service

Assist and support the Active Ageing manager to ensure all Active Ageing service projects meet the requirements of funders and that service level agreements are met

Deliver talks and presentations within the organisation and to external agencies

To adhere to all Age UK Hertfordshire policies and processes, including Health and Safety and safeguarding

Working to the agreed standards and policies of Age UK Hertfordshire

Work occasional evenings or weekends for which time off in lieu will be given

Essential Person Specification



Extensive knowledge of social care services Knowledge of GDPR in relation to client data confidentiality Self motivated with an optimistic attitude A commitment to quality standards and achieving results Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Ability to provide visible and supportive leadership, to coach and mentor, motivate and develop staff /volunteers to achieve results Ability to ensure all services meet the contractual requirements of funders and service level agreements Ability to translate strategic outcomes, service standards etc. in to operational objectives Ability to develop and maintain effective monitoring systems to ensure that the service is meeting the needs of service users and quality standards Competent in the use of IT and a high level of literacy in database systems and office applications software Good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and confident in own ability to ensure that tasks are completed within agreed timeframes Good understanding of the issues faced by older people, in particular with Active Ageing Awareness of equality and diversity issues/ability to manage a diverse workforce Working in the public sector or a charitable organisation providing services to the public and carrying out client assessments Project management experience Experience of monitoring and evaluation; collecting statistical information, conducting trend analysis, and feeding back information to support service planning and development Experience of managing a budget Experience of providing structured supervision and appraisal Experience of delivering services to clients Successful partnership working with multi-agencies including health and social care professionals both in the community and in hospitals A full driving license and daily use of a car, together with a willingness to travel around Hertfordshire to clubs and other meetings as required.
