Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced

Welder / Fitter

to join our workshop team, specialising in the fabrication, repair, and manufacture of

HGV belted bulkers

. This role requires strong welding and fabrication skills, a good understanding of trailer structures, and the ability to work to tight tolerances while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabricate, assemble, and repair

lorry trailers, tippers, belted bulkers, and chassis components

. Carry out

MIG welding

on steel and aluminium components, including subframes, load-bearing sections, and body panels. Manufacture and work on trailer bodies as required for different types of cargo and operational requirements. Replacement of damaged or worn-out parts. Cut, bend, and shape metal components using grinders, plasma cutters, and other fabrication tools. Perform visual and dimensional inspections on welds and finished work to ensure strength, accuracy, and compliance with transport safety standards. Ensure all fabrication and welding work meets

DOT, DVSA

, or other relevant regulatory standards. Maintain and service fabrication and welding tools and equipment. Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Proven experience as a welder/fabricator, preferably in

commercial vehicle or trailer fabrication

. Ability to interpret trailer/vehicle structural drawings and technical diagrams. Proficiency in

MIG welding

(multi-positional welding experience preferred). Skilled in using fabrication equipment and heavy workshop machinery. Ability to work independently and manage jobs from start to finish with minimal supervision when needed. Ability to work as a team to complete tasks and jobs when needed. Valid welding certifications (optional but preferred). Forklift or overhead crane experience is an advantage.

Physical Requirements:

Work in a standing position for long periods and perform tasks in various positions (bending, kneeling, overhead). Comfortable working in a

busy workshop or outdoor yard environment

, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
