Overview
High Post Golf Club is seeking a proactive and skilled
Facilities & Estate Caretaker
to take responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep, maintenance, and presentation of the Club's buildings, grounds, and outdoor areas.
This key role ensures that the Club remains operationally efficient, visually impressive, and safe for members, guests, and staff. The ideal candidate will be versatile, practical, and self-motivated -- equally confident fixing a door hinge, clearing pathways, maintaining outdoor areas, or ensuring the clubhouse and facilities are kept in top condition.
Key Responsibilities
1. Building & Facilities Maintenance
Conduct routine repairs and preventative maintenance to Club buildings and structures.
Carry out basic carpentry, painting, decorating, and minor plumbing tasks.
Inspect and maintain lighting, heating, and basic electrical systems, reporting faults as required.
Support with minor refurbishments, fixture installations, and replacement works.
Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
Conduct regular safety checks/tests on fire alarm, fire extinguishers, and emergency exits.
Oversee and liaise with contractors for specialist repairs (e.g. electrical, plumbing).
Act as the primary point of contact for building security. Monitor and report any security or safety issues within the Club premises.
2. Outdoor & Grounds Maintenance
Maintain and present external areas to a high standard, including car parks, paths, and entrances.
Weed, prune, and tidy landscaped areas around the clubhouse, car park, and range.
Clear debris, leaves, and litter; pressure wash external surfaces as needed.
Empty bins on the course, car park, and clubhouse areas.
Maintain fences, signage, and other outdoor structures.
Assist with garden upkeep, planting, and seasonal preparations.
Manage the safe operation and maintenance of outdoor equipment, including the air compressor (shoe cleaner), and other mechanical tools.
3. Clubhouse & Event Support
Assist with daily cleaning routines in the clubhouse.
Set out and clean golf buggies each morning; complete weekly checks and cleans.
Maintain trolley store and shoe cleaning/wash-down areas.
Support Club Management with setup and preparation for member and society events.
Carry out additional tasks as directed by Club Management, ensuring a flexible and cooperative approach.
4. Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and issues identified.
Manage a small stock of consumables and maintenance supplies.
Assist in maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
Contribute to risk assessments and proactive reporting of hazards or defects.
Prepare the site for seasonal changes (e.g. winterising areas, clearing leaves, maintaining outdoor lighting).
Skills & Attributes
Proven experience in maintenance, caretaking, or a similar hands-on role.
Broad practical knowledge including carpentry, painting, plumbing basics, and general repair.
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to prioritise workload effectively.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Valid UK driving licence preferred.
Hours & Conditions
Hours:
20 hours per week
Typical Schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday, 07:00 - 12:00 (plus occasional overtime as agreed)

Pay Range:
15.30 - 17.00 per hour
(equivalent to 18,000 - 20,000 per annum including employer National Insurance and pension contributions)
