We're seeking a proactive and flexible Facilities & Maintenance Assistant to support operations across two neighbouring, privately owned businesses: the popular family attraction
Audley End Miniature Railway (AEMR)
and a
growing holiday let property
.
This full-time role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to work in two unique environments--both committed to delivering outstanding visitor and guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
At the Holiday Let Property:
Perform property readiness checks prior to guest arrivals
Maintain and prepare hot tubs and pools to hygiene standards
Carry out minor repairs, damage reports, and general upkeep
Mow lawns and provide basic garden maintenance
Respond to occasional out-of-hours maintenance issues
At Audley End Miniature Railway:
Assist with minor repairs, painting, and basic carpentry or metalwork
Support the engineering team with routine tasks (mechanical/electrical)
Conduct site checks (fences, paths, signage) to maintain safety and presentation
Carry out seasonal duties (e.g. gritting, watering, leaf clearance)
Maintain grounds, including lawn mowing and hedge trimming
Store tools and equipment correctly and report any issues
What We're Looking For
A reliable, adaptable individual with a strong work ethic
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Confident managing time across two sites and adjusting to seasonal needs
Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks; tech-friendly is a plus
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
A valid UK driving licence is preferred
