Position
As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and productive environment for our manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive maintenance requests, and contributing to the overall upkeep and improvement of our buildings and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Execute maintenance tasks on a range of building systems and manufacturing equipment, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire safety systems, machinery (e.g., welding equipment, cutting tools, fabrication machinery), and general building fabric.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform a range of maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing and basic machinery repairs, mechanical adjustments, painting, and general building maintenance and upkeep.
  • Reactive Maintenance: Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests, diagnose faults, and carry out necessary repairs on building systems and manufacturing equipment to minimise production downtime.
  • Fault Finding and Diagnostics: Identify and troubleshoot issues with building systems and manufacturing machinery, utilising technical knowledge and diagnostic tools.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment. Report hazards related to both the building and manufacturing processes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for both building systems and manufacturing equipment, utilising maintenance management systems where applicable.
  • Energy Efficiency: Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency within the facility, considering both building operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Electrical Skills: Experienced in wiring and power distribution for low and medium voltage systems, control panels, circuit boards, and power distribution systems. Proficient with PLCs and automated industrial systems. Skilled in electrical testing using multimeters and performing Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). Maintains electrical components for HVAC systems and services emergency systems like backup power, fire alarms, and emergency lighting.
  • Managing People: Support the performance of your team, providing guidance whilst identifying training needs.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in a facilities maintenance role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical knowledge of industrial building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment (e.g., welding machines, cutting equipment, presses) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair faults in a variety of building equipment and manufacturing machinery.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety regulations and best practices within a manufacturing environment.
