Castle Employment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Production Manager for their South Wales facility. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading international structural steel engineering and fabrication business,
This role is ideally suited to candidates with a strong background in structural steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or fabrication and welding environments.
The Production Manager will oversee all daily operations within a busy structural steel fabrication and welding facility. You will ensure safe, efficient and high-quality production output while leading and developing a skilled workforce. The role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, capable of driving performance, maintaining safety standards and delivering continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead production teams across all shifts, ensuring appropriate supervision and safe working practices.
  • Monitor production output, driving improvements in efficiency, quality and cost control.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Oversee fabrication and welding quality, ensuring adherence to WPS and PMS requirements.
  • Coordinate workflow, resources, materials and maintenance to meet production schedules.
  • Support team development, including apprentices, through coaching, performance management and regular communication.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, technology and production methods.
About You
  • Background in structural steel fabrication, welding, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership experience within a production or fabrication environment.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety, quality systems and production planning.
  • Confident decision-maker with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • ILM Level 3 or equivalent leadership qualification (advantageous).
  • Competent in fabrication processes with relevant certifications.
