Facilities Manager

Manchester, United Kingdom

Job Description

A university community of over 42,000 people doesn't look after itself. Behind the scenes, our Facilities team plays a vital role in shaping the day-to-day experience of our staff, students, and visitors - and first impressions truly matter. From welcoming spaces to safe, well-maintained environments, our services help create a campus people are proud to work, study, and visit.
We are now looking to recruit an experienced and passionate Facilities Manager to join our award-winning team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about the Facilities Management profession and motivated by delivering outstanding customer-focused services. You will bring a positive, can-do attitude, a strong background in customer service, and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels. Remaining calm under pressure and leading by example will be key to your success in this role. Experience within the Higher Education sector would be advantageous, but is by no means essential.
As Facilities Manager, you will lead, organise, coach, and support your team to deliver consistently high standards across a broad range of soft facilities services. You will foster a culture of professionalism, ownership, and pride in place, ensuring that services not only meet operational requirements but also enhance the overall campus experience.
You will be responsible for ensuring your team delivers:
A highly professional soft facilities service, including cleaning, minor repairs and maintenance, reception and concierge functions, and Health, Safety and Compliance activities
A proactive, customer-focused approach that puts service users at the heart of everything we do
A strong pride-in-place culture, continually driving improvements to support key University priorities and strategic agendas
This is a role for a confident, people-focused leader who takes pride in creating welcoming, safe, and well-run environments - and who wants to make a visible difference across a vibrant university community.
To apply:
If you have the right attitude, a passion for providing excellent customer service and the skills for this role and would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you.
Please submit your CV and covering letter via our application portal.
