Area of responsibility
As Facilities Manager, you will have oversight of the physical environment, ensuring facilities are safe, compliant, and efficient for operations. This includes managing building and equipment maintenance, enforcing health and safety regulations, implementing cost-saving strategies, and coordinating with employees and external vendors for both hard and soft services. A key focus is maintaining equipment to minimise downtime and ensuring the facility meets strict industry standards for food safety and hygiene. Leading a small team, you'll be tasked with ensuring that our facilities are aligned with business requirements and enable continuity of operation and compliance with requirements.
Responsibilities;
+ Develop and implement maintenance strategies for buildings and equipment, including preventative maintenance to minimise downtime, and oversee repairs. Run routine maintenance inspections and support maintenance and installation work as needed. Coordinate refurbishments and renovations.
+ Plan and manage work with external contractors for maintenance, repairs, and other services. Negotiate and procure the best deals with outside contractors and suppliers in line with financial policies and procedures, including preparing documents to put out tenders for contracts.
+ Prepare and manage budgets for facilities operations, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure efficient resource allocation.
+ Implement strategies to improve productivity and efficiency within the facility, such as optimising space or ensuring services are functional and reliable.
+ Monitor and optimise energy usage within facilities to reduce costs and support sustainability efforts.
+ Identifying and managing facility-related risks to ensure business continuity. Responding quickly to emergencies that arise in workplaces and dealing with them appropriately to avoid impact on production
+ Supporting audits and inspections of operations by third parties.
+ Working with key stakeholders to identify, communicate, agree and implement opportunities for cost savings and business improvements.
+ Ensure statutory compliance through testing and certification
+ Monitor interior and exterior areas of building for cleanliness and general conservation
+ Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures
+ Ensure accurate data and key information is up to date and readily available for all servicing and maintenance contracts.
+ Lead, develop and motivate a small team
Requirements;
+ Experience working in a related Facilities Management role gained within a manufacturing or food production environment
+ Strong background in facilities compliance and safe systems of work
+ Experience of contract Management and negotiation in the management of third-party suppliers.
+ Experience in Stakeholder Management and acting as a liaison with external parties.
+ IWFM Level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management or equivalent
+ Health and Safety experience and familiar with COSHH
+ Knowledge of Statutory Compliance of building regulations
+ Demonstrable commercial and financial awareness and experience of controlling costs within a budget.
+ Strong communication skills, able to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
+ Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
+ A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning.
+ Experience of managing, leading and developing individuals/teams
+ Computer literate
+ Experience managing catering services is desirable.
