Job Overview

We need a handy, energetic, organised, reliable and friendly person to undertake a wide range of jobs on a part-time basis to help keep our small boatyard and marina well-managed, safe, clean and in good repair. Experience of and basic understanding of workshop systems, machinery, services, health & safety and boats would all be useful.

Duties

1. Outdoor monitoring and management of marina facilities, including safety equipment, walkways, berths, boats and their lines, servicing electricity and water supply stations, garbage and PortaPotty disposal facilities. Reporting and dealing with problems as appropriate.

2. General cleaning and tidying in the yard and on the moorings, keeping drains and gutters clear, vegetation trimmed, leaves swept. Minor repairs and maintenance.

3. Management of workshop facilities, including checks on machine and hand tools, stock, fire and other safety equipment. Reporting and dealing with problems as appropriate. Waste removal and disposal. General cleaning and tidying.

4. Assisting when required with miscellaneous boatyard jobs e.g. receiving and moving stock to store, landing and launching boats in floating gantry and with forklift (training will be provided if required).

5. Assisting with Health & Safety and other regulatory compliance including helping external inspectors and record-keeping.

6. Monitoring car-parking and security (gates, keys, CCTV)

7. Facilities management of Office, Kitchen and Stores, equipment, cleaning, minor repairs.

Skills

Handy. Safety conscious. Some mechanical knowledge with practical experience in maintenance procedures is desirable. Some electrical knowledge and experience is desirable. Proficient in English. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with management, co-workers and customers.
