The Role

General Operatives work within the factory are responsible for working in breading, coding, packing, palletising and distributing the products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Performing all breading and packing duties as directed, including transporting, placing, and stacking goods on pallets safely. Assisting with building pallets with products received. Manually labelling the master boxes with the correct labels that identifies the type of product to be packed/is packed within the box. Quality checking the date code of each pack, ensuring that the code is correct, is in the right position and is not damaged or scratched. Removing any date codes that are incorrect to have the pack recoded and rejecting any product packs that do not meet quality standards. Keep all work areas within the factory safe, clean, and tidy. Immediately reporting to the production chargehand, production supervisor and/or engineering department any damage or breakdowns to machines.

Hours of Work

Normal contractual hours of work for Production are 40 hours per week. The normal dayshift working day is from 07:00-15:00 or 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday inclusive and the normal backshift working day is from 15.00-23.00 or 16.00-00.00, Monday to Friday inclusive. Normal contractual hours of work for Chilled Coding are 48 hours per week. This is an eight-day shift pattern, working four consecutive shifts of 12 hours per day, from 07.00-19.00.
