We are recruiting for an experienced Factory Manager for our Wellingborough site.

The Factory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Wellingborough site, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production across chassis manufacturing and an expanding general fabrication operation.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role managing a small multi-skilled team, with remote support from the main Hull site. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, trusted to run the site with minimal supervision while maintaining strong communication with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities



Operations & Production



Manage daily production activities across chassis manufacturing and general fabrication Plan and prioritise work to meet customer requirements, deadlines, and quality standards Oversee workflow, labour allocation, and materials usage Support the development and growth of the general fabrication side of the business Ensure plant, equipment, and facilities are maintained and fit for purpose

People Management



Lead, supervise, and motivate a small site team including: Fabricators Painter HGV Class 1 Driver FLT / General Assistant Carry out day-to-day people management including: Attendance and performance management Training and development Toolbox talks and team briefings Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused culture

Health, Safety & Quality



Take full responsibility for health and safety compliance on site Ensure safe systems of work are in place and followed Carry out risk assessments, accident investigations, and corrective actions Ensure products meet required quality standards and customer specifications Work closely with the Hull site to align with company H&S and quality standards

Customer & Stakeholder Liaison



Act as the primary on-site contact for existing and new customers Liaise with customers regarding specifications, progress updates, and delivery requirements Support quoting, feasibility discussions, and new business opportunities Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and suppliers

Administration & Systems



Maintain accurate production, labour, and stock records Use SAP for production tracking, materials, and reporting Complete required documentation including: Production reports Health & safety records Delivery and transport documentation Communicate clearly and regularly with the Managing Director and support teams based in Hull

Skills, Knowledge & Experience



Essential

Proven experience in a manufacturing environment Experience managing or supervising operational teams Strong understanding of health and safety and quality standards in manufacturing High attention to quality and workmanship Confident communicator, able to liaise with customers and senior management Strong administrative skills with good attention to detail Ability to work independently and take ownership of a site
Desirable

Experience within fabrication, welding, or chassis manufacturing Experience using SAP or similar manufacturing ERP systems Knowledge of transport, logistics, or dispatch operations IOSH or similar health & safety qualification
