Job Description

Walker Rubber are searching for Factory Operative who is hardworking, ambitious, driven and flexible. We are a small, hardworking, straight talking team.

Some basic skills you need:



1) Able to read and write in English and perform primary school level Maths

2) Capable of using a computer for average tasks

3) Understand what basic units of measure are and how to convert from imperial to metric with length and weight

4) Understand how to use a tape measure and read an engineering drawing

Walker Rubber is a manufacturer and supplier of industrial rubber products. The business operates in a wide number of industry sectors, providing rubber-based solutions to a vast range of engineering problems. Specialising in the manufacture of extrusion, mouldings and gaskets, the business is uniquely positioned to provide bespoke solutions on an exceptionally fast turnaround.

What you will do:



1) Dealing with Supplier deliveries - Unloading, unpacking and then booking in on the computer system

2) Picking customer orders from stock

3) Cutting and stripping sheet rubber down off larger rolls

4) Creating 2D drawings on the computer to then cut on the CNC cutter

5) Calculating material requirements and creating associated nests of products to cut from sheet rubber to minimise waste

6) Setting and running equipment/machinery to cut 2D shapes from sheets of rubber

7) Using adhesives & tape to bond different rubbers together or to customer supplied parts

8) Setting and running equipment/machinery to "mould" rubber into 3D shapes

9) Setting and running equipment/machinery to "extrude" rubber into long lengths of rubber in a 2D shape

10) Using equipment to cut and drill extruded rubber

11) Wrapping up and packing of customer orders

12) Measuring & weighing parcels to then calculate the most cost-efficient delivery method

13) Dealing with customer order collections

14) Site housekeeping

15) Participate in daily team meetings

What we offer: -



1) A 4-day working week, Monday to Thursday 730am to 5pm (except bank holiday weeks)

2) The equivalent of 5 weeks of flexible holiday on top of our Christmas shutdown (not your bog standard 4)

3) Full training will be provided to anyone who we deem to have the right attitude to offer the role to.

What is our process: -



1) Apply for the role through Indeed

2) Face to face meeting. 60 minute written assessment. Factory Tour. 30 minute interview.

3) Half day trial (0730-1200).
