Responsibilities

Provide advice and guidance to families/carers via telephone, aligning with Families First guidance, national standards, and relevant legislation. Direct professionals and families to appropriate local services to ensure relevant support is provided. Conduct service user assessments, including needs and risk assessments, to inform casework planning according to Service and national standards. Maintain accurate case records electronically and on case files for each child, young person, and family, following Service policy. Collaborate with service users, carers, and other professionals and agencies both internally and externally. Stay informed about relevant legislation, guidance, policies, procedures, practice guidelines, and national standards, including the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act and the All Wales Child Protection Procedures. Ensure compliance with Departmental and Corporate Standards for assessments, planning, and reviewing of individual casework, maintaining relevant care plans within available resources. Promote access to community services provided by other organizations to meet assessed needs. Participate in meetings, reviews, and produce written reports as required. Engage in professional supervision and appraisal with the designated supervisor as per Service policy. Take responsibility for continuous professional development, identifying training needs and development targets with supervisor support. Provide information and reports as required by the supervisor and/or their line manager(s). Implement the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy while performing duties. Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and relevant Council policies, ensuring the safety of oneself and others. Apply the principles of the Council's Environment Policy during duties. Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the appropriate safeguarding officer.
Person Specification

Strong understanding of Families First guidance, national standards, and relevant legislation. Excellent communication skills for providing advice and guidance via telephone. Ability to conduct thorough assessments of needs and risks. Proficient in maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records both electronically and on paper. Effective collaboration skills with service users, carers, and professionals. Awareness of Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act and All Wales Child Protection Procedures. Commitment to professional development and continuous learning. Ability to adhere to Equal Opportunity, Health and Safety, and Environment policies. Proactive in reporting safeguarding concerns promptly.
