Job Purpose



The Family Carers Liaison Assistant will support the Adult Carers Team in identifying, registering, and completing Adult Carer Support Plans and Reviews to uncover the unmet needs of unpaid/family carers in the Kilmarnock and Irvine Valley areas of East Ayrshire. In line with the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, the post holder will contribute to delivering information, advice, and support around carers' rights and entitlements.

Key Responsibilities



Direct Carer Support



Conduct assessments of need through the completion of Adult Carer Support Plans (ACSPs).

Collaboration & Advice



Work with the Adult Carers Team to provide unpaid carers with guidance on welfare benefits, financial management, care coordination, and social inclusion.

Service Sensitivity & Responsiveness



Maintain carer consultation systems to ensure services reflect unpaid carer feedback and are responsive to their evolving needs.

Outreach & Awareness



Engage in marketing and outreach to identify hidden unpaid carers and raise the profile of our services within the community.

Support Network Development



Facilitate and grow our unpaid carers' support groups and peer networks.

Training & Promotion



Assist the Adult Carers Team to represent and promote the project externally; support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of training for unpaid carers, professionals, volunteers, and the general public.

Service Improvement



Assist the Adult Carers Team to identify gaps in service provision through consultation with unpaid carers and support the Adult Carers Team in developing targeted strategies to address these.

Monitoring & Reporting



Provide accurate monthly data and contribute to mechanisms used in quarterly project reporting.

Person Specification



Experience working in a support or advisory capacity with unpaid carers

Understanding of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Competence in maintaining accurate records and reports

Willingness to work from the Bank Street Office (front-facing role only)

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: Up to 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
