The objective of the Thriving Families programme is to strengthen families to thrive and keep children safe by bringing together multi-agency expertise and skills so we can effectively co-ordinate support. This role will provide an exciting opportunity to be part of the Thriving Families programme in Manchester, working together with a range of partners to implement a whole family approach. Whilst being part of a multi-disciplinary team, based within the Manchester Court and Locality Social Work Service.
This is a front facing role, delivering evidence based interventions to families impacted by domestic violence, substance misuse, mental health, and persistent neglect within their own home. Providing intensive and targeted support to families subject to child protection and child in needs plans, where there is a child of primary school age in the home.
As a Family Help Practitioner, you'll offer practical help and emotional support to families experiencing short or long term difficulties. The focus of the role will be to provide direct support to families, empowering them to address various challenges, reducing problems and risks, helping to make sure children can remain with their families. These post are based within the Central and North Children's Locality Teams.

• Have excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families, professionals and services.
• Be calm under pressure when dealing with challenging or confrontational behaviour and have a good understanding of the adversities faced by families.
• The role holder will be flexible, adaptable and demonstrate sound problem solving skills within difficult situations. Whilst demonstrating a non judgemental, empathetic and sensitive approach.
• Be able to work effectively within a multi disciplinary team, with experience of direct delivery of interventions to families.
