Duties
Conduct thorough patient examinations and assessments to diagnose health conditions
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients of all ages, including pediatrics and adult care
Administer medications and oversee medication management, including pain management strategies
Perform procedures related to acute care and chronic disease management
Collect and analyze patient data to monitor health trends and outcomes
Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner for documentation and data collection
Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications
Coordinate home care services when necessary to ensure continuity of care
Collaborate with specialists and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and standards of practice
Experience
Proven experience in family medicine or primary care settings, with a strong foundation in patient care practices
Hospital experience preferred, especially in acute care or emergency situations
Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and medical office procedures
Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable
Experience in research or data collection projects related to healthcare is a plus
Background in pediatrics, pain management, or home care enhances the ability to serve diverse patient needs
Prior experience working in medical offices or clinics that emphasize comprehensive patient-centered care is advantageous
Alberta Requirements
To practice as a family doctor in Alberta, you must meet rigorous education, examination, and licensing requirements.
Educational Pathway:
Pre-medicine studies:
Completion of a bachelor's degree at a university level is typically required.
Medical Degree:
Graduation from an approved 3- or 4-year Medical Doctor (MD) program at an accredited university.
Residency:
Successful completion of a post-graduate training program in family medicine, which must be a minimum of two years.
Certification and Licensing:
Examinations:
Pass the qualifying examinations of the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) (MCCQE Part I).
Certification:
Obtain certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
Licensure:
Be eligible for and obtain a practice permit from the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Language Proficiency:
Demonstrate English language proficiency, if required based on your jurisdiction of training.
Additional:
Depending on the specific role and location (e.g., rural settings), additional certifications like Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required.
NOTE:
We are looking for Doctors who are willing to relocate to Canada, in the City of Calgary or Edmonton, we will provide temporary furnished residence at free of cost, it will be the applicant's responsibility to obtain necessary visas and meet with the practice requirements.
