Location: Longmead Community Farm, near Blandford Forum, Dorset
Contract Type: Part-time (22.5 hours per week)
Salary: 18,000 - 19,200 per annum (based on 30,000-32,000 FTE)
Start Date: Autumn 2025 (or as soon as possible)
Working Pattern: Includes regular weekend working and occasional evenings
About the Role
Longmead Community Farm is a rural sanctuary supporting families in crisis through therapeutic, nature-based experiences. We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Family Support Practitioner to join our growing team and help us relaunch our core family support service.
You'll work directly with families to build resilience, improve relationships, and support emotional wellbeing -- all within our peaceful, farm-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and group-based support to families referred to our programme
Co-create support plans and monitor progress
Work alongside families during day visits and residential stays
Collaborate with our gardening and arts facilitators to offer creative, therapeutic activities
Liaise with external professionals and contribute to safeguarding plans
Maintain accurate records and contribute to service evaluation
What We're Looking For
Experience supporting vulnerable families or children
A relevant qualification in social work, youth work, counselling, or a related field
A strong understanding of child safeguarding protocols
Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings
A commitment to inclusion, dignity, and family empowerment
Desirable
Experience in a residential or therapeutic setting
Familiarity with rural or nature-based interventions
Driving licence and access to transport
