Family Support Worker

Job Description

About the Role

Rainbow Rogues is expanding to launch RR Plus - Primary Support, a new service for parents and carers of primary school-aged children with additional support needs. The service will provide a safe, welcoming space for peer support, alongside access to a Family Support Worker for one-to-one advice, guidance, and advocacy.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new service while working closely with families and professionals. The role will also involve supporting families of younger children (0-5 years), with time given to shadow and learn from our current Family Support Worker.

Provide mental and emotional support to family members. Offer one-to-one and group support sessions. Help families understand and navigate education, health, and social care systems. Create individual documents (e.g. communication passports, developmental plans). Write supporting reports for DLA, education, health, and social services. Support families in building positive relationships with professionals. Attend family and professional meetings when required (e.g. MAAPMs, education forums). Advise families on financial entitlements and avenues of support. Ensure all mandatory family paperwork (admission forms, media permissions, CORE-10, fire evacuation plans, family support plans) is completed and maintained. Provide follow-up communications with professionals on behalf of families. Encourage solution-based ideas for parents facing challenges with their child. Maintain weekly reporting logs for management. Take responsibility for child protection (CP) reporting, ensuring concerns are communicated promptly to the manager.

Working with Staff & the Organisation:

Support Playworkers with electronic and administrative tasks. Communicate effectively with the wider team, ensuring key information is shared. Contribute to team meetings and service development. Support Rainbow Rogues' social media presence and help connect families online. Ensure clear communication of CP concerns and updates to the manager.
