Overview

The Family Support Worker plays a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to families in need. This position involves working closely with children and their families to promote well-being, enhance family dynamics, and support the development of children. The ideal candidate will have a compassionate approach and a strong commitment to helping families navigate challenges.

Duties

Provide direct support to families, helping them access resources and services that meet their needs. Work collaboratively with families and children to foster their emotional and social development. Conduct assessments to identify family strengths and areas for improvement. Maintain accurate records and reporting of interactions, progress, and outcomes for each family supported. Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, educators, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive support for families. Supervise contact sessions between parents and children at home and in the community

Skills

Experience working with children is desirable; familiarity with child development principles is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with families from diverse backgrounds. Empathy and patience when dealing with sensitive family situations. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in approach. Training in safeguarding adults and children is desirable. Care certificate or NVQ in health and social care is desirable. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple cases effectively. Problem-solving abilities to help families overcome challenges creatively and resourcefully. Full Driver's License is desirable but not required.
