The team...
Our Family Time Team provides high quality family time supervision for Children in Our Care and their families in Gateshead, establishing effective working relationships with children, families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
The Family Time Team forms part of our Specialist Services within Children's Social Care and Early help.
In 2024, an Ofsted inspection of Gateshead Council judges us to be Good across all outcome areas. We remain ambitious in our improvement journey towards outstanding.
About the role....
As a Family Time Worker, you will provide high quality family time supervision for Children in Our Care and their families.
Various contracts are available between 3 - 16 hours and although your contracted hours will remain fixed, we are looking for flexibility as to when these hours are worked, so we are able to meet the needs of our children and families. The ability to work after school hours (3-6pm) would be desirable, and occasional weekend working may be required, but not essential. Hours and days of working will be discussed and agreed during the recruitment process.
Successful Candidates will have demonstrable experience of working with children and families at risk or in need and offering direct interventions is essential. You must also have knowledge of safeguarding thresholds and procedures and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries.
You must also have proven experience of prioritising and organising workload, adhering to service timescales and providing a timely, responsive service to families and working in a team and on your own initiative and adherence to safe lone working practices.
Your role will include the transportation and supervision of Children in Our Care to ensure they benefit from safe, quality time with their families at times when they have to live apart therefore you must hold a current driving licence and access to a car or means to mobility support.
You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure all observations are recorded and actioned where appropriate therefore you must have experience of using Microsoft Office and Outlook packages. Writing reports which provide analytical interpretation of observations and interventions undertaken in order to contribute to achieving the right plan for the child will also be essential.
You must be committed to equal opportunities, anti-oppressive practice and the impact of discrimination and be aware of secure use, storage and transfer of confidential information.
You will work across agencies to achieve best outcomes for children and be part of an experienced, supportive team where there are great training opportunities to support your professional development.
