We have a vacancy for the following position:


Farm Sustainability Advisor




Reporting to the Lead Farm Sustainability Advisor, you will be tasked with supporting our milk suppliers in establishing their current sustainability performance and implementing change with particular reference to nutrient management and greenhouse gas emissions. You will be responsible for assisting the farms prepare for a carbon audit and in interpreting results into practical, realistic actions. The successful applicant's work will be focused on farms in the west of Northern Ireland, however flexibility may be required.


Key Responsibilities


As a Farm Sustainability Advisor you will be required to:





Work with farmers to identify the necessary data required to determine the carbon footprint of individual farms. Help interpret results of the footprint exercise into practical farm actions to reduce each farm's carbon footprint. Develop Nutrient Management Plans from farm data provided. Work collaboratively with Dale Farm staff and other stakeholders to develop materials/toolkits to help our milk suppliers improve their sustainability performance. Appropriately plan workload to ensure required support to farms is given. Undertake additional farm based sustainability initiatives as required. Maintain CPD to develop your knowledge.




This is an important role, and we are looking for candidates who can work reliably to their own initiative and as part of a team. Previous experience would be preferable but new graduates are encouraged to apply. Full training will be provided concerning the specific requirements of the carbon footprinting tool to be used. The successful candidate will be required to complete FACTS training and certification if qualification not already held.


Applicants must be third level educated, with a degree preferably in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science or equivalent related qualification. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an interest in the interaction of agriculture and the environment.


Other essential criteria are that the candidate has a flexible and positive approach to work and has accomplished IT skills in Word & Excel.
