About the role
We require a farm technician to join our farms team on a fixed 12 month contract, to help manage our fleet of sensors and platforms deployed across the UK farm network. You will ensure our equipment is operational, monitored, and ready for deployment across the UK, while also supporting companies in accessing our facilities nationwide You will be key to ensuring the success of Farm Technical Trials including constructing, maintaining and operating technical equipment, performing field-based tests/trials and being able to use a wide range of field-based (mobile) technical equipment. In addition to this, the role will include coordinating on-farm project activities and attending project meetings, farm visits and events around the UK and potentially abroad, supporting the other teams within the UK Agri-Tech Centre. This role can be fully remote or hybrid if you are within commutable distance from one of our hubs. We are ideally looking for someone based in the Midlands, Yorkshire, East England or the Bristol area.
Key responsibilities
We're looking for a proactive and hands-on individual to support the delivery of cutting-edge agricultural projects across the UK. In this varied role, you will:
Operate and maintain technical equipment for field-based trials
Collect and manage high-quality data to support scientific research and product development
Assist in the development and testing of new technologies
Coordinate on-farm activities and events, including knowledge exchange workshops
Liaise between farmers, technical teams, project partners and other stakeholders
Support training, technology demonstrations, and content development
Represent the UK Agri-Tech Centre at meetings, farm visits, and events--both in the UK and potentially abroad
What we are looking for
We're seeking a motivated individual with a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as agriculture or engineering, and a passion for agri-tech innovation. The ideal candidate will bring:
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Solid numeracy and IT proficiency, including MS Office
Experience with farm technology and agricultural engineering
Project management experience and an understanding of the agri-tech ecosystem
driving licence
