Migdale Smolt is looking for a dedicated and proactive farm technician to join our team and help us deliver good welfare, operational excellence, and environmental responsibility at our freshwater aquaculture site.
About the Role
As a Farm Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our fish farm, ensuring the health and welfare of our stock, maintaining site infrastructure, and working closely with the Site Manager and wider team. What You'll Be Doing
Assist with fish husbandry tasks including feeding, health checks, grading, and transfers
Monitor and maintain equipment, nets, cages, and site infrastructure
Accurately record key data
Contribute to a safe working environment, adhering to health & safety protocols
Support with predator control, site biosecurity, and sustainability practices
Help prepare and clean the site during fallowing and seasonal transitions
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who is:
Practical, reliable, and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
A strong team player with good communication skills
Highly observant with attention to detail and animal welfare
Willing to learn and take part in training (including First Aid, Boat Handling, PPE, Fish Welfare & Containment, and more)
Comfortable working flexibly across sites and capable of safely handling equipment and materials
Ready to take initiative and contribute to continuous improvement
Requirements
Ideally, you'll have a full UK driving licence, or be able to get one.
Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional weekend or out-of-hours work
Basic computer literacy for data recording and reporting
A commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism at all times
Previous aquaculture or farming experience is desirable, but
not essential
- full training will be provided.
