Overview



We are seeking a reliable, motivated person with a strong sense of attention to detail to join our team and support the daily operations of our farming business. The ideal candidate will want to contribute to the overall success of the business, enjoy being part of a team, be a pro-active communicator, have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in all weather conditions. This role involves hands-on tasks essential to the care, productivity, and maintenance of the farm.

This might suit someone from

- someone from a farm locally looking to gain experience in another farming enterprise

- a farming background from another country undertaking their overseas experience

- a semi-retired or retired person with farming experience

About Us



We farm 3 units totally 1000 acres in Angus, just north of Dundee between Auchterhouse and Tealing. The farm has 120 breeding cows (Aberdeen Angus and Hereford) calving in March/April; 500 breeding ewes (Easycare) lambing outdoors in April/May and grows around 300 acres of cereals, mostly spring sowing.

We have had various great people work for us in recent years for a block of 6 months to a year travelling from NZ and Australia who have been a key part of the team and family. Our own family, Finlay age 20 is currently working in NZ and Sophie age 18 is at Harper Adams University and so we are looking to strengthen our team ahead of a busy spring period. We are open to finding the best person to join our team, regardless of where they come from - local or not so local - but want to find a good match for our business. Although recruiting for a 5 month period, if things are working well for both, there will be an option to extend.

Key Responsibilities



Assist with day-to-day farm operations including feeding, watering, and caring for livestock, moving stock on rotational grazing Monitor animal health, report concerns, and assist with veterinary treatments as directed Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely Cleaning, repairing, and maintaining farm infrastructure including fencing Play an active role in seasonal activities including lambing, calving, sowing and harvest Follow all farm safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organised working environment Take complete responsibility for the farm while the owners are away for weekends/holidays

Skills & Qualifications



Previous farm or outdoor labour experience preferred Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team Competent operator of basic farm machinery including tractor and forklift Physically fit and able to undertake manual labour, heavy lifting, and long periods of outdoor work in all weather conditions Basic understanding of animal welfare and/or crop management is an advantage A full driving licence and a car to get to work is essential Forklift certificate preferrable

Working Hours



Full-time 40 hours per week is preferable, ideally over 5 days but would consider someone a minimum of 3 or 4 days per week Additional days/hours during peak seasons of March, April and May
