Opportunity to join the Production Team of Harpers Feeds, a leading manufacturer of high quality animal feed supplying customers across the South West
This varied role requires enthusiastic self-starters who are keen to learn and develop skills within the manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Applicants should consider themselves physically fit as some manual lifting is involved
Warehouse and forklift experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided
Good communication and customer service skills
Applicants must be flexible to assist with meeting the demands of the business and work well within a team
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 6am to 2.30pm / 2pm to 10.30pm on a fortnightly rotating basis.
Plus regular overtime and additional long service benefits, including health scheme.
Objectives:
To contribute as a member of a team to the efficient running of the factory, to produce animal feed of the required standard, working on a flexible schedule, including shift work to ensure orders are produced when required.
To operate a number of processes within the factory, and ensure compliance with codes of practice i.e. Health & Safety, UKASTA etc.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To manufacture animal feed as required, either through the Presses, the blender or the coarse mixer.
To complete daily production and shift reports.
To inform the necessary person when any stocks are considered to be low.
To assist with the maintenance of machinery and equipment when required and to assist with any breakdowns.
To bag off products in 20kg, 25kg, 50kg bags and tote bins.
To load / unload lorries.
To carry out forklift daily checks at the start of a shift and to drive them in a safe and sensible manner.
To print any product labels required.
Sample all products that you manufacture through the coarse mixer or take out in half tonne bags from the blender or bagging plant and give the sample a batch number.
To ensure a smooth hand over to the next shift
To comply with all work instructions
To maintain the general tidiness of the mill and comply with the mill cleaning schedule
To serve and assist customers, with a cheerful and pleasant manner.
To make sure that all doors and gates are left locked and secure when you are the last person leaving the site.
To ensure the efficiency and safe running of the mill. Report any faults found with the plant and machinery to both the Warehouse Supervisor and Mill Manager.
To carry out any other duties that may arise from time to time and to provide cover for colleagues within the Company as required.
