We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Assistant to support our organisation's programmes, primarily focusing on childcare and educational activities. This volunteer position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about early childhood development and community service. The Volunteer Assistant will work closely with staff and children, contributing to a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. The role requires organisational skills, leadership qualities, and a genuine interest in working with children.
This is best suited for college, apprentice or university students who are seeking work experience whilst studying on their program.
Responsibilities
( Note the actual role is not exhausting and requires only 2 hours per session of time).
Assist in organising and supervising activities within the childcare setting ( community centre) Observing health and safety and ensuring everyone is content.
Support management in daily operational tasks and programme delivery
Engage with children through play, educational activities, and social interaction
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members
Help maintain a clean and organised environment suitable for early childhood development
Support transportation needs if required, including driving when authorised and qualified
Participate in training sessions to enhance childcare skills and programme knowledge
Qualifications
Experience with children or in childcare settings such as nurseries or requirement of early childhood work experience for your college, apprentice or university programmes is preferred.
Strong management and leadership skills to guide children and support team efforts
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when needed
Childcare qualifications or relevant experience are advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is vital
Valid driving licence is desirable but not required
Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
A genuine interest in supporting children's development and community engagement
This role provides valuable experience in early childhood education and community service, ideal for those looking to develop their skills within a supportive environment.
