Care Worker - Children



Are you looking for additional shifts or a flexible role that fits around your existing schedule? We have an excellent opportunity for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to provide care for a young child on alternate Saturdays.

The shift is flexible and last 6 hours, making this role perfect for those seeking extra work or a chance to make a meaningful impact in their spare time.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting those with complex needs and want to make a positive difference in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide attentive supervision to ensure child's safety and well-being Assist with mobility, including transfers to/from electric wheelchair Support child's daily activities and routines
Medical Care

Monitor and report any changes in child's condition, including: Muscle tone and strength Respiratory function Skin colour changes (circulation) Gastrointestinal symptoms Assist with medication administration as directed Support feeding regimen (child is nil by mouth, has trans gastric/JEJ tube) Perform bowel washouts as needed for constipation management Assist with bathing and personal hygiene
Therapeutic Support

Engage child in age-appropriate activities to support development Implement exercises or stretches as recommended by physical/occupational therapists Assist with use of sensory room equipment
Communication and Reporting

Maintain accurate records of child's daily activities, medications, and health status Communicate effectively with parents and healthcare team Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies

- Ability to respond to the needs of individuals who are fully dependent on care.

- Willingness to learn and adapt to the specific needs of those you will be supporting.
