13 year old young lady, with a zest for life, looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible 'Buddy' to work within their home and in the community.
This young lady has Moebius Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Global Development Delay (GDD).
She has some difficulties with her speech but does like to socialise, so needs a support worker to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
She requires 'top-up' fluids which are administered via her PEG, and requires some assistance with maintaining personal hygiene (although I am working on this), so previous health care experience is essential.
She can become overwhelmed and anxious in unfamiliar situations and will require careful and sensitive reassurance.
She does not have any road safety awareness, so the person supporting her needs to manage her road safety when out in the community.
She has a fantastic sense of humour and is an absolute joy to be with.
She regularly likes to link arms when walking along as it helps her to feel safe.
She loves to sing and dance, and is a "chatterbox". She enjoys activities such as, watching YouTube videos, TV programmes, playing the guitar, horse riding, Arts & Crafts and baking.
She is keen to commence an exercise regime to aid her mobility and fitness, but will require a lot of motivation and encouragement to engage in these activities; it will be important to make them fun and be creative.
She has a team of therapists working around her; full training will be provided to any successful candidate to enable them to support her to achieve her rehabilitation goals and any clinical needs.
You will be well supported and supervised by the management team at Complex Case Management. They provide bespoke rehabilitation and personal care services to clients in the community, throughout the North West and are recruiting for this post on behalf of the finance deputy.
It is anticipated that a successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
A good temperament and patience, to be able to manage the client's sensitive / neuro diverse needs.
The enthusiasm and energy to motivate and support the client to undertake a physiotherapy program and fitness training.
Suitable skills to be able to identify risks and dangers to the client, together with responses (dynamic, where needed) to prevent her from injury or harm.
An attentive attitude and the ability to listen and understand the client's sensitive needs, with good patience and reassurance skills necessary to provide the correct response.
Ability to be able to support the client with some of her personal hygiene issues, such as washing her hair and helping her with her clothes when dressing.
The ability to facilitate the correct use of a feed pump to deliver fluids via the client's 'mic-key button' and also to be able to apply eye drops carefully, as and when necessary.
The post requires that you:
Are female (Due to personal care)
Non-Smoker (my request)
PEG Feeding experience (Preferred)
work independently to a great extent
work and conduct yourself in an acceptable manner
can cover weekdays; and weekends
can work flexibly, along with the ability to work additional hours as required
The post is part time, permanent- Alternate weekend work preferred but can be flexible
1 position available: average of 24.5 hours per week over a 2 week rota

Rate of pay:
During 6-month probation period, weekdays paid at 13.50 per hour and weekends paid at 14.50 per hour; plus 10 travel costs per shift
Once probation has been passed, the rate will go up, weekdays paid at 15.00 per hour and weekends paid at 16.00 per hour; plus 10 travel costs per shift
An enhanced DBS will be required for this post.

Maintaining the young person's mobility and fitness
Maintaining the young person's general health
Maintaining the young person's personal care to include:
Washing /Bathing
Dressing
Personal Hygiene
Maintaining the young person's nutrition
Maintaining the young person's physical management
Supporting the young person's therapeutic engagement
Providing appropriate leisure activities for the young person
Supporting the young person on family holidays (may be required)
Maintaining the young person's safety in all environments
General:
Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace.
Promote effective communication and relationships.
Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
Establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship
Be responsible for the young person's personal welfare
Travel to hospitals or elsewhere for therapeutic care
Liaise with other agencies as required
Complete daily records as advised including; time sheets, daily record sheets, medication sheets, petty cash sheets and critical incidents.
Attend Team Meetings/review meetings with the CCM and other persons as nominated by the employer
Attend for regular Formal Supervisions and Annual Appraisal
Attend training sessions as arranged
