Location:

Toton, NG9 - will be moving to NG15 towards the end of 2026.

Days & Hours:

2 x Support Workers required to cover the following shifts: Monday-Friday, 4 days to be worked 9.00am-5.00pm and one day to start and finish later (this can be flexible) to enable Nicola and/or her family to enjoy an evening out. Additional hours available for night shift cover. A typical night shift might be 9pm-9am, either waking or sleeping night, the exact requirement of the night shift will be determined by an assessment on 12th December 2025. Working on Bank holidays will not usually be required to enable the family to have time together.

The hours can be covered by more than 1 person.




Pay:

17.50 per hour, Weekdays 9am-11pm. 18.50 per hour weekends, bank holidays and waking nights. NLW per hour (Currently 12.21 per hour for workers aged 21 and over) Sleeping Nights, Monday to Friday (11.00pm to 9.00am) NLW per hour plus 1 (currently 12.21 per hour for workers aged 21 and over) Sleeping Nights, Weekends (11.00pm to 9.00am)


Driver required?

Essential (will need own car to get to work and to drive our client in their vehicle)

Driving Clients Car?

Yes, our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV)

Essential Experience:

Supporting an adult with quadriparesis, learning difficulty and diabetes

Desirable:

Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in therapy

: 1 dog

Accommodation (while on duty):

Good sized family home (the new home will have all adaptations required for Nicola and separate accommodation for the carers)

Nicola, born in 1991, lives at home with her parents and 1 pet dog, the family all have a good sense of humour. She is a very sociable lady, and her interests include supporting her local football team, Nottingham Forest. She is also keen on; shopping for books, enjoying meals out, social events, listening to music on her headphones and playing console games.



Nicola sustained a birth injury in 1991 which resulted in spastic quadriparesis with marked increase in tone and a moderate learning disability. She has a right sided scoliosis and a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes which is insulin controlled, she wears a monitor which sounds an alert if the glucose levels are out of the safety parameters. Nicola is a full-time wheelchair user and is dependent on others to meet her care needs. She requires support with personal care, moving and handling, assistance with eating and drinking, meal preparation, administration of medication, management of low-level behavioural issues and regulation of emotions. She communicates verbally (with a limited vocabulary), and has the


cognitive ability to make simple choices on a daily basis.



Your role will be to help Nicola with sourcing and implementing meaningful activities, supporting with all her care needs, along with managing her diabetes and her exercise programmes with guidance from her therapists. You will support Nicole to maximise her independence in all activities of daily living and may be asked to assist with 'client related' domestic tasks along with providing companionship, keeping her safe and at present requires 2:1 care for all transfers but may change in the future. Pay and Benefits:




5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata Pension (subject to qualifying status) 1 week's sick pay pro rata per annum before SSP Free DBS check.
