We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and compassionate Female Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with young people aged 16-25 to support their journey toward developing essential independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and personal organisation. The role aims to empower individuals to live as independently as possible in their own homes, promoting confidence and self-sufficiency. Key Responsibilities:



As a Support Worker, you will assist young people in a variety of areas, including:

1. Independent Living Support



Assist individuals with daily tasks such as meal planning, cooking, reviewing grocery shopping i.e. checking which groceries have already been bought, whether the food items are in date, etc., and maintaining a clean and safe home environment.

Provide practical support with household chores, including laundry, tidying, and basic home maintenance.

Encourage and teach budgeting skills, helping individuals manage bills and expenses responsibly.

2. Personal Development & Empowerment



Support individuals in developing routines and time-management skills to enhance their independence.

Encourage decision-making and problem-solving to build confidence in daily living.

Work in a person-centred way, tailoring support to each individual's needs and preferences.

3. Health & Safety



Ensure individuals understand basic food hygiene, household safety, and cleanliness to maintain a safe living environment.

Support the safe use of kitchen appliances and cleaning products.

Identify any risks in the home, ensure all safeguarding and health and safety guidelines are followed, and report concerns promptly.

4. Emotional & Social Wellbeing



Provide encouragement and motivation to build self-esteem and confidence.

Assist with accessing community resources, social activities, and local services.

Work collaboratively with family members, carers, and professionals including social workers, education providers, and healthcare teams to ensure holistic support.

5. Record-Keeping & Compliance



Maintain accurate records of support provided and progress made.

Follow safeguarding policies and report any concerns regarding an individual's welfare.

Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Person Specification:



Essential Skills & Experience:



Experience working with young people, particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk.

Understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and professional boundaries.

Commitment to equality, diversity, and the rights of young people.

Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and engage with young people in a respectful, non-judgmental manner.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Understanding of safeguarding practices and commitment to health & safety in a home environment.

Ability to remain calm under pressure, and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns. Empathetic, patient, and supportive in challenging situations.

A flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the individuals you support.

Experience in providing support for independent living skills such as cooking and cleaning.

A genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and help them achieve independence.

Desirable Skills & Experience:



Experience working with young people in a care or support work setting.

Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal preparation.

Understanding of different needs, including those related to disabilities, or learning difficulties and a knowledge of trauma-informed approaches or mental health support.

First Aid or other relevant certifications

Qualifications:



NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).

Food hygiene and/or first aid certification (desirable).

A valid UK driver's license and access to a vehicle is preferred

Vetting and Recruitment:



This role is subject to:

Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check

Verification of identity and right to work in the UK

At least two satisfactory references, including most recent employer

Completion of safeguarding training prior to or upon appointment

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required.

Willingness to participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in youth support.
