Join The Bay International Film Festival as a Digital Marketing & Social Media Intern and develop practical skills in arts marketing and digital content creation. Working under the supervision of our Festival Producer with a dedicated team of creative volunteers, you'll plan and execute social media campaigns across multiple platforms to promote our January 2026 festival. This role offers hands-on experience in content strategy, team coordination, and audience engagement for a growing regional film festival. You'll gain valuable exposure to the complete marketing cycle - from strategic planning and content creation to scheduling and performance analysis - while building a professional portfolio in cultural sector marketing. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about film, social media, and creative marketing who wants to develop their skills in the arts and cultural industries.

Working Hours / Pattern: 10 Nov- 19 Dec 2025 (6 weeks), 5 Jan - 1 Feb 2026 (4 weeks), Total hours: 100 (10 hours per week - flexible)
Location: Entirely remotely in the UK

Main Duties:
Weekly Planning & Coordination
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with Festival Producer to discuss marketing priorities and content plan
  • Translate weekly marketing objectives into specific social media content concepts and campaigns
  • Create a content calendar coordinating posts across Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Delegate content creation tasks to volunteer team members based on their skills and availability
  • Manage communication with volunteer designers, writers, and video editors via email/messaging platforms
Content Creation & Management
  • Design social media graphics using Canva (Pro account provided) and/or Photoshop
  • Edit short-form video content using Adobe Premiere or similar software for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook
  • Write engaging captions, posts, and copy that reflect the festival's voice and appeal to target audiences
  • Create content yourself when needed or coordinate volunteer team to produce images, videos, and written content
  • Ensure brand consistency across all platforms and content types
  • Adapt content appropriately for different platform requirements and audiences
Campaign Execution & Scheduling
  • Schedule posts across all social media platforms using scheduling tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Later, or similar)
  • Plan posting times strategically to maximize engagement and reach
  • Monitor and maintain consistent posting schedule during campaign period
  • Coordinate countdown campaigns, event announcements, behind-the-scenes content, and filmmaker spotlights
Audience Engagement & Community Management
  • Monitor comments, messages, and engagement across all platforms
  • Respond to audience queries and foster community interaction (with Producer support for complex issues)
  • Identify and engage with relevant film/arts communities, local groups, and potential audiences
  • Track which content types and approaches generate strongest engagement
Performance Tracking & Reporting
  • Monitor social media analytics and engagement metrics
  • Identify successful content strategies and areas for improvement
  • Contribute insights to help refine marketing approach
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
  • Available for 10 hours of work per week from 10 November 2025 through February 2026
  • Strong proficiency with Canva (experience with Pro features desirable)
  • Competent writing skills with ability to craft engaging social media captions and posts
  • Experience managing social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Instagram
  • Familiarity with scheduling social media posts using management tools
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with volunteer team members
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while staying accountable to weekly plans
  • Creative thinking and ability to develop engaging content concepts
  • Interest in film, cinema, and cultural events
  • Reliable internet connection and own laptop/computer for remote work
Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe Premiere (or similar video editing software)
  • Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics
  • Previous experience coordinating or delegating tasks within a team
  • Knowledge of TikTok, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn best practices
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite or similar social media management platforms
  • Understanding of arts/cultural sector marketing
  • Experience creating content for events, festivals, or cultural organisations
  • Familiarity with accessibility best practices in social media (alt text, captions, inclusive design)
  • Understanding of audience development strategies
  • Portfolio of previous social media work or content creation
