We are seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to join our Fibre Cable Gangs. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic cables in various environments. The ideal candidates will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working with both hand and power tools. This position is crucial to ensuring that our fibre optic networks are installed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
Install and maintain fibre optic cables in accordance with industry standards.
prepare sites for cable installation.
Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during installation processes.
Conduct welding tasks as required for cable fittings and connections.
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely project completion while maintaining quality control.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on installed fibre optic systems.
Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
Experience
Previous experience in fibre optic installation is preferred but not essential.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools relevant to the installation process.
A willingness to learn new skills and techniques related to fibre optic technology is essential.
You will have the following qualifications and be able to prove experience and competence:
Must hold a full UK driving licence
Must be over 21 years of age (for company vehicle insurance)
Confident working at height and in underground network
Excellent communication skills
Hold a valid NRSWA street works Operative unit 2 card (desirable)
Hold or have held PIA accreditations (desirable)
Risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety practices.
