The Role
We're looking for a Fibre Engineer to help us expand and maintain our vital infrastructure. You'll work hands on installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining fibre optic cabling across our growing network. It's a role that combines technical skill, teamwork and problem solving, all while helping delivery life-changing connectivity to rural communities.
What You Will Be Doing
Installing blown fibre optic cabling for B4RN's Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network.
Fusion splicing fibre cables into optical distribution frames, enclosures and termination units.
Testing, troubleshooting and maintaining new and existing fibre installations using OTDRs, power meters and other diagnostic tools.
Recording site work, faults and changes accurately and updating relevant systems
Participate in our 24x7 operations via an on-call rota to address critical network issues
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced fibre engineer with a proven track record in fibre network installation, testing, and maintenance. You will need to be methodical, with an excellent attention to detail and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. You should be confident using Microsoft Office, flexible and willing to work unsociable hours, travel away from home and participate in an on-call rota for critical network issues. A full valid driving licence and full colour vision are essential.
